No, it failed to make his reserve! The thing is, he knows perfectly well it isn't what he claims it to be. He's a Land Rover dealer (so he says), at least he has one or two Land Rovers for sale, so he should know something about the marque. If he is confident enough to come up with all that twaddle he is doing so knowing it not to be the case - what Lightweight was retired in 2018 for a start? A quick glance by him on the internet would show that to be rubbish. And so it goes on. No, he knows what he is doing and he is doing it anyway, in the knowledge that some gullible fool will part with his cash and be disappointed when, eventually, he discovers that what he has actually bought is worth about £6,000 tops.
But, as you know, this sort of deceit really annoys me - as does the selling of V5s and dataplates - because the vendor isn't daft, he knows full well that they will go to get another vehicle on the road on a false identity. And given that these vehicles are over 40 there is no reason anyone will look at them and query it. I wanted to raise the matter with DVLA, but there is no way off accessing them - they have a contact proforma which permits only certain issues to be raised. I complained, but was wasting my time. I read an article in a paper the other day which expressed surprise that there are more classic cars on the road now than there were 5 years ago - but the article didn't make the link to the free road tax and no MoT for vehicles over 40. I just wonder how many of these "classics" are actually merely bangers.
Anyway... keep safe!
