Obviously his reserve is more than the thing is worth! It just annoys me, though, to see a guy claiming to know all about Land Rovers and yet he can describe this as being the best available - entirely original and all the rest of it, when, clearly, a cursory glance shows it isn't. Bizarre seat belt set-up as well. I wonder whether it has, or could get, an MoT! The trouble is, some poor sod will end up buying it in all innocence and in the belief that the vendor can be relied upon to know what he's talking about, because he's a Land Rover "specialist". Ho hum!

The more he re lists it the more we can look at it and pick faults.

Even it’s b card states it’s ffr but it’s all 12v in its “unmolested condition”.

A friend of mine was interested until I pointed out the crossmember to him and showed him what it should look like so he asked the seller a question and got a reply on the line that he thought it to be superb.

I very nearly bid on this and so glad i didn't now having read the thread!
I'm happy to admit i dont know enough about LWT to know a genuine one but like many others i assumed the provenance/paperwork was a guide that this was a good one.
Now i'm left thinking i don't know what i'm looking at and don't know whats genuine and whats not!

There’s a lot of help on this forum and everyone will gladly help with any questions that you might have.

You would have thought with provenance and paperwork you would stand a chance but sometimes no.

Unless it is a pristine rebuild or totally original things get changed and modified. The lightweight in question obviously has had alterations but the seller refuses to admit it. You could understand the high end reserve if it was all original

Basic checks start with appearance and paperwork. Check the vin is a lwt one not a civvy. Check the chassis for correctness and condition.

It went back on eBay yesterday, again. Still the same four or five bids to encourage the unwary. Probably members of his family!

And, Jammymark, simply let us know what you're looking for, whether it's a pristine show pony, a daily user, a project etc and people on here will be happy to offer advice. There are plenty to choose from but, generally, the dealers are a bit ambitious with their prices and are prone to extolling the virtues of pretty ordinary stuff. I know because I fell for it myself, buying a daily runner which, in fact, was a project. Still, more fun as it turned out! But, honestly, I did pay through the nose. I realise that now, but, at the time, I thought I would do better buying from a specialist. Hmm!

There are plenty of restoration threads on here which will give you an eye for the sort of thing which is required - basically skill or money! Not really, Lightweights must be among the easier vehicles to restore with basic mechanics and simple bodywork. Enjoy.

If the seller was more honest and just said what it is he could probably sell it for a decent amount anyway. There is bound to be a buyer out there that just wants "the look".

FWIW Here is my take on it. Paperwork states 26 GJ 97 which was contract WV111916 (item 1) for 60 RHD FFR vehicles (1625 0778)
These were Larkspur fitted only. The bodywork and wings clearly show It has been Larkspur FFR fitted which ties in with the contract, also it has been modified for Clansman fit (not built as) again this would fit with the age of the vehicle. The wing mirrors are also correct for contract. Top bulkhead has been changed as it should have washer nozzles fitted.
So it seems someone has converted a 1976 FFR to 12 volt by ripping out all the FFR parts and relocating the battery to the engine bay. Bit of a shame really.
