I’ll see what they say tomorrow, ideally want to keep the plate that’s on it for a rainy day/ change on one of the others.

Managed to get another coat on the tub, looks a lot better, far from perfect, bit of dog fluff and some dust on it😂
Few more brackets etc coated up too, fingers crossed pick up the last 2 bits of the tub on Wednesday ish then can paint them then start putting it all back together 😂

Cheers

Hi all,
Bit of messing about today, lashing points (except as need new nuts welding on the plates) fitted, tub bolted to the rear crossmember, lower tailgate fits😳 tight on one side, but it closes, it didn’t fit that well before!
Slr brackets fitted, have got one mint clip but the other isn’t great but they will do.
Will put a straight edge on tomorrow and see how far out it is again with the bulkhead, could be fun🙄

Need to order a pack of small unf nuts and bolts, i struggle with anything smaller than 1/4 tho, what are the sizes? I’m used to metric😂

Cheers

Looks good - the rifle clips can be refurbed with split leather (cheap on eBay), and the metal parts are just bolted / screwed together so maybe you could just do that as a mini project once the rest of the truck is finished.

Tailgate looks nice and straight - mine still needs work, including a crack welding up around one of the holes.

What, if anything are you missing for your build?

Quite a bit, last 2 panels for the tub, seats, screen wash bottle and pump, second fuel tank ( not a problem as only had 1 for years) vent panel which hopefully I’ll order tomorrow, going with a sheilder one then both are galv, water/oil/fuel gauge, civy one currently fitted, battery cables and fuel pipes, floor runners for the tub.

Think that’s all😂 most readily available but funds are dwindling as not much work on, plus other issues.

Hoping to drive it out the garage early July all being well.

Both upper and lower tailgates were nasty, managed to braze up most of the extra holes and straighten enough that they look ok, not overly happy with the fit but it’s amazing what die grinder can do😂 lower needs to go to the drivers side a bit and drop a little on the near side, had to slam it before it was stripped tho.

The “sameness” of parts has cropped up in the build too, I built the tub up using the original vehicles upper offside tub, the donors doesn’t fit well, high at the front with the tub bulkhead but the other does🙄 factory tolerance again!

Cheers

Well, it's looking good so keep at it. But, I do sympathise - they absorb a lot of money and it is particularly hard at the moment because we can't get to the shows to find cheaper parts and increasingly are having to rely on eBay and the major suppliers. That having been said - the amount of stuff available for Lightweights at the shows is nowhere near what it was. Restoring a Lightweight is not going to be for the faint-hearted in a few years' time. There's generally plenty of stuff about for the standard Series Land Rovers still, but the special and military bits increasingly less so.

Hi all,
Busy day today, chap came to do the welding,
Front offside bulkhead outrigger shortened so the sill fits,
Near side front fuel tank outrigger fitted, chassis never had one, well it did but was riveted on and the tank fell off before I owned it.
Grille/ rad panel sorted, chap I had do something work on it years ago butchered it so it looks standard now.
Under bonnet toolbox now has a new bottom to it.
Waiting on more etch primer then I can get ready for doing lots of green😎
Having great fun with the last tub bits, one fits perfect after some tweaking but the other is trying my patience, probably due to the one they copied being bent out of shape big time🙄

Will get there though, won’t be perfect but much better than when I started😂

Cheers
