Thanks all. No, there won't be another. It's back to Land Rovers now. I have bits to do on my newly-acquired Discovery 2 which I am really enjoying - I had forgotten how nice a D2 is to drive - and I also want to get the Lightweight ready for an MoT in the new year.

what do you reckon it'll tow like on the M4 at 60, Fred?

Once again, thank you all for your kindness. As to towing it at 60 I shall never know as my Lightweight won't do 60 on its own, let alone with a trailer. Talking of trailers, one project I should like to do is the restoration of a WWII 10cwt trailer. I'd rather do one of those than a Sankey because the bed is made of angle iron and wood, so rather easier to repair and some of them actually had a tailgate, which makes them more useful. I am sure there will be one or two around my way lurking in barns or the corner of farmyards as they were the sort of trailer which would have exactly fitted the needs of hill farmers and there was little incentive to dispose of them once they were of no further use. Having said that, a neighbour used to have a Willys/Ford Jeep in the 50s and 60s for use on the farm. It was fitted with a wooden hard top. I've seen a photo of it, but he has no recollection of how or when it went, but he knows it isn't on the farm any more. Perhaps another farmer locally has the centre steer!

Well, with only the steering relay on the Lightweight to fill with one shot and my only other activity outside has been to mow the lawn and adjust the handbrake on the Discovery, neither of which was particularly photogenic, the only other thing I can offer is some final photos of the shepherd's hut now that the interior has been furnished and the bed made up. And, of course, while all the sheets and pillowcases were being fitted Meg arrived complete with grubby paws!
