Identification please

Post by Sidders101 » Tue Apr 25, 2017 10:12 pm

Can one of you knowledgeable people out there ID this item please.
It's apparently A trailer cargo cover (obvs) but can anyone relate the number to either a Narrow or wide track type.
Am I right in thinking that due to the late manufacture date then it must be for a wide track...?? Can't see an FV number and the nsn just confirms its a trailer cover..the other numbers come back negative in my searches....help please.

For a start the DMC of 7TR indicates its a non-standardised trailer as opposed to 9BTR that is a standardised trailer. Traditionally standardised means it is to a FVRDE/MVEE design & given a FV pattern/drawing number.
My NSN search system is down at the moment so it is random flicking through ISPCs.

ATA6233A looks like it was made for Boughton Engineering Ltd

I see The XMOD is selling these covers & there was a seller in RoI on ebay but he has now withdrawn them.

Hiya Sidders! :D

The DMC of 7TR is for a PENMAN TRAILER, LIGHTWEIGHT, GS, CARGO. Unfortunately i don't seem to have the CES listings for one to check the NSN against.

I think you'll find that the DMC 7TR is not in itself exclusive, this is from the CES.

Hi Clive,

True. It's also used on the TRAILER SKELETAL (DROPS) 15 TONNE, 4 TWIN WHEELS, KING TRAILERS, but I discounted that trailer as it doesn't have a cover. I think most other trailers are 9BTR apart from the TLR CARGO 3T. GS, 2WHD, UNIVERSAL ENGINEERING LTD which is 7CT. I would need to dive into the AESP's for any others.

Or ring them and ask what it's for.

I'm surprised it wasn't for the Penman, but does a "cover" have a different role from a "tarpaulin"?

Traders could really make life easier for everyone & boost their sales by just measuring the thing, without doing so people may well steer clear of buying because they cannot be sure that it is correct.

Just for interest..the cover has all corners cut out...a deliberate part of the construction if that helps ID...hang on..easier to stick a pic up..2 secs....just found the measurements..253cm X 213cm..so it's massive...thanks anyway lads.
