cheers, no problem, do we have access to templates for the chassis mounting brackets for the rail, as im guessing they could be fitted in advance?

Also any shots of both static mount points and the differance between early and late centre buckle points on a GS?

thanks in advance

Sorry it’s been a while, finally getting somewhere with finishing up the rebuilt loom, 1 quick question, where are the relays mounted, and how many should I have ( it’s a late vehicle with check light brake tally not the push switch and fog lamps.

I/r relay (think it’s on the bulkhead left one of the 2 6RA ones on earlier vehicles - I only have one mounted here)
Auxiliary relay? Should I have one?
where is the brake check I have re-instated it as a 6RA, but where does it go as it was replaced by a plastic one shoved behind dash panel....?
And finally fog, think it should be mounted behind the left hand blanking plate next to clocks?

Interestingly, none of the relay wires connected on the front of the bulkhead go anywhere, but everything seems to work..

Many thanks

Allen

Well it does seem an eternity since my last post...

I dont think there is a single inch of this lightweight that hasnt been burnt, bent, bodged, riveted, or covered over with a vale of mystery.

But on the positive, things have been moving along nicely, aprox £**K of parts and a year and a bit later its now 99%

Nearly completed the IRR green with 2 coats done, just needs overall top coat and sealing, most of the "interesting" camo effect has been removed :D its just visable on the front of the bent lightboxes  .. it starts, stops and drives great.

:D X!
loom rebuild and electrical issues 99% done, dashboard is re-installed and working, although I need to source a new Left hand Aux panel that hasnt had a rectangular hole and Cig lighter cut in.. - I know I shouldnt have an IR switch, but it makes a cool looking cut off switch for the coil!!

Fuel tap rebuilt and re-enstated, although one tank has a weep, but all the extra pipework (made from copper brake pipe) and the electric fuel pump etc is removed.

Now to my next issue!

Having removed the headlamps from the front and finding some more damage, a sheet of ally glued to front of the lightbox, and dubious reivetting within the rims I am looking for advice..

one side is missing the spring that holds the bulb in the reflector and has separated rings that hold the lenses. Where can i source parts from to rebuild, or is it a replacemet job. I cant find separate parts info anywhere...

Body wise, just the doors, locks and seatbelts, then fit sticks and canvas to be nearly complete for the spring. - outside photos to follow, when the weather gets better!

I cant believe the prices that LW parts are reaching now, Its just gone crazy the last few months, Im glad i have nealy finished buying the hard bits, as it would be double now..

hopefully ready for DVLA inspection by end of month, then off for an MOT, the joys of a vehicle that has been imported / exported and then re-imported without the paperwork correlating over the last 25 years.. it left military a petrol, exported with wrong paperwork, became a diesel, repatriated, with different and incorreectly filled in paperwork and is now fitted with a (its origonal) petrol engine but v5 says diesel, and eng number is random junk to name a few anomilies, they have admitted record is mistake ridden, but I have recovered its UK Registration, so getting there, but should be sorted and legit after inspection..

When done, I will write a list of all the bodges I have found, as some may catch the less observant out, and some were downright dangerous!

any help or info on the headlamps greatly recieved..

Apart from the spring, which bits might you be missing?

I can bring various headlamp parts to Gaydon or Overlord if you can wait that long.

Not got anything like those, but have a selection of the rings for holding headlights. When I get a chance I'll photograph what I have, but it won't be until after the weekend now as called away on grand parenting duty.

Those clips are often on eBay - but for a ridiculous price. I'll have a look at Malvern next month - that's where I got mine last year.
