greetings
Im new to lightweights , I owner a series 3 years ago and wanted to wet my feet again.
Learning as much as I can about air portables .
Ive learned how to tell a 5 bearing engine and other little bits.
I do have one question (probably way more), were all vehicles fitted with a heater or was that optional?
Regards

Re: hi from across the pond
Hi, and welcome to the forum.
I'm unsure of timeline/Contact Numbers, but the first Lightweights, (Rover 1's.), weren't fitted with heaters IIRC. There is a Modification Instruction, EMER Q 027/4 No.4 for the Fitting of commercial heater/demister on contract WV8679 (only) and vehicles used in NW Europe, shown in the back of MJC's book. So, A guess would be that prior to WV9753 no heaters were fitted on production. If you look at pictures of pre-production vehicles there isn't a heater fitted, but on the FFR there was a hand throttle mounted where it would sit. I have seen unmolested SIIA bulkheads without any of the holes associated with a heater.
Regards,

Ill be more specific
Should a 1978 LHD have one fitted?
It seems odd that there isn't a heater.

If the Asset Code is 1620-5772 & it was used in NW Europe, then yes.
