Labour costs

Afternoon chaps, been a while.
I do all my own servicing on my motorbikes, I used to be a service manager and taught apprentices, I've had bikes I worked on displayed at the NEC and used to work at a shop where our customers included Motorcycle News.
Over the last few decades I've become pretty disconnected from the costs of keeping vehicles, I only got a car license 4 years ago so never really had to pay for work to be done on cars as I didn't have one.
I'm looked after by the garage that looks after my mummy mobile, they're friends of friends and I help them out occasionally with motorcycle stuff so I don't get charged per hour, they make up a low price for the job and stick to it but they don't do in depth work.

My question is, what is the going labour rate per hour these days at non-franchised dealers who work on Land Rovers?

My local garage who have about 6 mechanics & work on all sorts of vehicles charge £50 per hour irrespective of vehicle type, then of course there is VAT on that.

Clive, that's worth moving to Wales for

Indeed a few years ago the front diff in the Wolf failed & had to be replaced at a cost of nearly £800. There was a warning about diff care in the MOD maintenance Kit! the typical cost for this replacement was quoted at nearly double this.

So lots of good reasons to have moved to Wales 10 years ago, although not so good going to shows like Capel sometimes has taken me 8 hours.

Although I'm in London the other half is from a small village in Caerphilly.

Similarly my wife was born in Llanelli & my sister was born in Sennybridge where my parents lived during WW2. Although this is denied by AI & Wikipedia, the camp nearby was used to station US Troops.
