Hi,
Nearly sold my 1979 LW due to arthritis in the left ankle making things difficult, then I decided to have a go with a LOF Powermaster master cylinder. Not a difficult job to fit, but gear selection was somewhat stiff, as if there wasn't quite enough travel at the servo. Further bleeding has resulted in disaster- I can't select any gear with the engine running;there is no resistance at the pedal. I Used a jar and a close fitting pipe, nipping off with the pedal depressed and also tried with a cheapo vacuum pump. I have used Comma DOT4 fluid (synthetic). What am I missing?
LOF replacement clutch issues
Re: LOF replacement clutch issues
You may have a bleed problem if you cant get any pressure at the pedal or perhaps a failed master cyl. I don't know the exact detail of the Powermaster.
The only way to reduce the clutchpedal push without extra servo assistance is to use a smaller diameter master cylinder, which I think is how the Powermaster maybe works. So your conclusion that there wasn't enough travel at the 'servo' isn't unreasonable.
You mention 'servo', does your clutch already have a servo fitted into the clutch system (not unheard of - there are kits) or what do you mean buy 'servo' ?
The hydraulic cylinder down on the gearbox which operates the clutch is known as the clutch slave cylinder.

Yes, apologies, I mean the slave.
