No luck, he was determined that there was noise in 2nd gear, I couldn't identify anything other than the normal whirl of gears in a series gearbox... the guy was pretty hung up on the smallest oil leak I've ever seen too – literally a 1-2 mm "run" from a badge riveted to the side of the engine. It doest matter now though, I sold the vehicle (with full disclosure of what the inspector had said regarding the noise), I just had to sell it unregistered, which, over here, means that the new owner, if they want to get it registered, will have to get a safety cert first... hopefully their inspector has more experience of old vehicles, or he may just pop a different gearbox into the vehicle; he said he has a container full of parts!

Boooooo! :(

Sorry to hear you didn't get the cert & have moved the vehicle on. Any plans for it's replacement?

Sometimes you forget how noisy a Series transmission is until you jump back in one after a break from driving them.

Hopefully the new owner has more luck with his inspector.

Thanks for asking, no plans at present, got some serious home renovations to do, maybe after that I’ll see what new trouble I can get into… assuming the missis let’s me of course!
