Hi all,
Newby here, I recently purchased a IIA LTWT.
After a bit of digging around this wonderful site I managed to get the ERM from the RLC website and the the B'card.
My ID plate is still on the Land Rover but one digit is un-readable. For reference the Vin number is 23600602A.
I've attached a copy of the B'card as I'd like some help/insight into what some of the less obvious, to me anyway, entries mean.

It also looks to me that it was re-assigned to the Royal Navy and given another number when this record stops in 1972.
Can someone confirm I have interpreted this correctly and was 18RN08 its new number?
If so, where do I go to get further info regarding its history?

Welcome Peter, this is the nearest I could find to yours. Yes it became 18 RN 08 but nearby ERMs cover all manner of vehicles.

Translation of your B Card,
Central Vehicle Depot Feltham, CVD Irvine, 225 Field Ambulance Royal Army Medical Corps (Volunteer), CVD Irvine, CVD Hilton and 59 Independent Commando Squadron Royal Engineers (Army unit attached to Royal Marines) then Royal Marines Depot.

Yes 18RN08 was it's new Royal Navy registration. Others might know more details but in general Royal Marine vehicles kept their Army registration so it may have no longer been in services with the Royal Marines?? I also believe that tracing RN vehicles is difficult as unlike the Army and Royal Air Force they reuse numbers

Thank you very much for that, all very interesting.
I guess we are lucky that any records are available after the time periods we are looking at.
If I was to try and chase the RN number, do you have a suggestion as to where to start?
