Yep. Could not believe it when I saw it. Almost the exact same size.
I have the convoy lamp mounted underneath as well. Pointing at the white differential cover plate.
Maybe I'll start a trend on the forum. haha

It's been a while since I updated my thread. I thought I'd post some shots of what is almost a complete rebuild. I've welded two broken hood sticks, fitted the wings, mounted the oil cooler (although not yet connected), placed the grille, re-alined the bonnet catch so it does not lock shut and cleaned up the exterior body before giving it a protective coating of a mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil. This coating has worked really well and is way better than a clear coat.
All I need is a new Weber carb, rear pinion seal, props bolted in place and it should be good to go.

Hi LooLoo.
Technical inspections do happen here, but they are not like the ones in Europe. Is there something alarming you spotted beyond the red tail light being used upfront instead of a clear side light? The obvious one is the missing seatbelts which will be added for inspection.
There are some seriously questionable vehicles on the road here, so I think I will be okay.

Apart from the different tires per axle… I don't see much blocking for a control, whether "light" or thorough.

Hi all,
A few update pics to share.
The interior is looking good and I believe all electrics are fully functional, including the rear Fog lamps + warning light and the reverse light should work once I add the switch to the gear lever mount and connect the wires I have run to the ignition and rear light. I also need to get a new hazard switch sorted.
Nice to have all the wires hidden away at last... including under the steering wheel shaft cover/shroud.

I also made up a centre seat storage box which will be useful for something once I decide what.
Oh yes, also installed the wiper motor cover I made with aluminium sheet (once I confirmed the motor was working well).
I'll soon be ordering a replacement Weber 34 ICH so that I can get everything running perfectly.

Hello Alex,

Perfect, all this is moving in the right direction and at a steady pace.

Keep in mind that the final phase, that is to say the development, is sometimes frustrating… You have to dismantle or replace, or adjust such and such a thing which worked perfectly “in statics” but turns out to be “ approximate" after several kilometres.

Have a good trip or good luck, it depends…

Plastic breaks, so wherever I have found a broken or deteriorated plastic piece, brittle from sun and age, I have tried to replace it with something sturdier.
My wife engraved this fuse box cover I came up with. The handle with the two brass cylinders, slots through holes in the cover plate and snugly presses into the holes between the fuses. We will see if it stays put when going over bumps etc.

Also, here is the replacement for the sliding glass window finger grip/handle thingy.
Two separate pieces of brass sandwiched together with clear epoxy. Rustic on purpose.

Haha. Perhaps if I can keep it alive for my grandchildren it will end up somewhere... I believe the Louvre displayed the original Range Rover... so you never know
I'd rather see it on the road.
