Me too!
Interested in what you are doing with the electrics. I've also got a 1968 Rover 1 as well as a 1965 88 SW. At some point I may need to bite the bullet and go electric...

Sorry for slow response -- I've obviously mis-configured the notification settings in the forum -- doh! Thank you for your interest.
Anyway, yes -- I realise it won't be authentic, but on the other hand I'm keen to demonstrate how series vehicles can continue to move with the times, which I've always thought is one of their strengths.
What I'm undertaking is very much like what that chap from Australia has done, although I'm going with the Netgain Hyper 9 motor instead of the HPEVS AC-51 -- largely on the basis of better protection off-the-shelf from dust and water. Like him, I'll retain the existing gearbox & clutch -- my adapter plate, motor coupling & flywheel are currently under production by Falcon Electric; I hope to have the motor installed by the end of January -- the job after that will to get started with the batteries.
In the meantime I'm working on the rather more prosaic job of getting the track rod ends out of the steering rods -- they're completely rusted up -- I've done the longest one but the shorter two are proving impossible! Any tips welcome!!

I will be following your conversion progress with interest, I've a couple of questions for starters:
What real world range are you expecting?
How much space will the batteries take up?
How much do you think the electric conversion will cost?

Regarding the track rod ends, you could hold the tube in a vice then using two hammers hit either side of the tube where the thread is seized - try this in a few different places around the tube. Failing that heating up the tube is an option if you have the facilities.

Cheers,
