I suspect 95102547A would probably be 13 FM 70 or very close to that.

Mark,

I know you wrote a very good book on the Lightweight, indeed it is well-thumbed as the one we all go to for information and we're all grateful, but it isn't the only source of information we use. For you simply to say, "you're wrong" without any explanation is both arrogant and rude.

It is also extremely unhelpful. If you think it is from an entirely different Contract to the one shown in the Taylor/Fletcher book, for 19FM20 to 26FM13 or chassis numbers 951-01059A to 951-02555A, then justify yourself, say why and make it clearer for us all.

Of course, it might have been nice if you had replied to the original post rather than waiting for others to try and help then shooting them down with a one-liner.

I don't claim to be an expert, as you do, and, if I am wrong, I will both apologise and accept the correction willingly, as I would like to know the truth as much as, I am sure, you would enjoy enlightening me!

Not really sure how to take this, I was just trying to assist with a question as I have indeed helped many people over the years with various enquires.
How that is being arrogant and rude is beyond me. I do not read all posts if something catches my eye I may respond. I do not see the need for the above post, when a simple " Mark, What is your reasoning behind that statement?" would have sufficed

Ok justification you want then you shall have it
Ref Taylor/Fletcher book, for 19FM20 to 26FM13 or chassis numbers 951-01059A to 951-02555A
The book give the ERM and the chassis number for the first ERM in that contract along with the last ERM and that chassis number.
It does not necessarily mean the whole contract falls within that chassis sequence, or indeed all the chassis numbers given in that sequence are used in that contract (for some it may, in this case no) often they are not and there are gaps, due to various reasons.
For instance vehicles may have been exported for example 95101407, or are within a different contract example 61 AM 97 95101448 contract WV11147
100 chassis numbers later and you have 09 FM 59 95101548
Look in Taylor/Fletcher book
08 FM 57 to 17 FM 17 is given as 95101359A to 95103035A (1625-0778)
I know that 13 FM 59 was 95102436, (near to vehicle in question) also that 14 FM 00 etc were slightly higher. Note it also fits in the chassis range above.
That is my logical thinking on the matter.
By the way please do not put words into my mouth, if you could show where I have ever claimed to be an expert, I would be most grateful. I am just a knowledgably enthusiast.

Mark,

Thank you for your reply. I follow your logic regarding the sequence of chassis numbers and I see that, in the Fletcher/Taylor book there is a repeat of that sequence so the chassis number could appear in two lists: one for FFRs, the other for GS. I had not noticed the repeat.

Thank you also for your assurance that I misinterpreted your response; I therefore apologise for having jumped to an erroneous conclusion and for having upset you. The key lies in the word in your closing sentence, "enthusiast" and there we are on common ground - the best place for us to remain.

B Card refers to the 'B' Vehicle History Card. This was a record card produced by the Directorate of Ordnance Services on Form 419B. It was not part of the structure of normal Army Forms but an internal document for use by the RAOC to record the transactions relating to the receipt & issue of a 'B' vehicle.

It is widely supposed that a 'B' Vehicle is not one that is tracked or even armoured but this is incorrect. This is the 1978 definition:

"A tracked or wheeled land vehicle of all types, self-propelled or towed, which is not primarily designed for offensive purposes, but which may in some cases be armoured for defensive purposes, and which is not a 'C' or 'D' land vehicle. This may include land vehicles built to general service or commercial specifications."

The cards were white, pink ones on Form 419A were for 'A' and 'C' vehicles.

I don't know why the Factory Colour is Protected Data. Accessing the records shows Green IRR as the issued colour.
