Electrification: Conversion Kit Launch

Post by weetchus » Thu Apr 29, 2021 5:35 pm

Saw this on Instagram and thought I'd share as I'd certainly be happy to swap out my 2.25 engine in 10 years time for one of these or similar. Once the prices come down. The LWT would still not be quiet but perhaps it would be posible to talk to the other passenger while driving? :P

Don’t know if it would be “once the price comes down” or “if the price comes down”. If it’s a low mileage vehicle it’s not going to be a cost effective conversion at today’s cost. That defender on vintage voltage cost £60000 or more. Yes it was a showcase for power and performance but for a meagre lightweight I’ll bet you’d still need £20000

I’m not against phasing out fossil fuel but I’m sure in times to come there will be the same environmental problem of mining lithium etc to keep up with the demand. Nobody yet has highlighted the dirty side of this needed advancement.
