ACH MICH Ballistic Helmet

Post by indibush » Fri Aug 10, 2012 1:09 pm

At the War and Peace show, Gordon asked me what was my best buy. The obvious answer was the AR15, or maybe the Tail Fin from the 1000 bl Bomb (he's a bit camera shy at the moment, all will be reveled at Peterborough as part of a new display :D ), but the answer I gave then, and would still give now is this US Army Helmet. I was always gonna get the AR15, same with the Tail Fin. These Helmets can go for silly money, and I thought I'd never beable to get my hands on one. This one was a snip :D The one I used before was a cheap plastic toy one from ebay. It had the cover on so it wasn't too bad, but now I've got the real thing, it's a world apart.
The first pic is how I bought it, and the second one is with the Digi Cam cover on, which is part of my US ACU.

Very nice piece. Did you manage to get it to fit OK?

Yeah. There's velcro strips on the cover, and velcro inside to fasten the unfortunately named "Action Pads" to the helmet. I'll post some pics later of the inside.

I've just won an Instruction Manual :? for the Mich on ebay. Not sure why you'd need one for a helmet. I can't wait to read it............
Remove packaging.
Put on head.
End of manual

I hope it comes before Peterborough, I wouldn't want to put it on upside down

I think it's to stop the Americans from re-shaping their heads with a rock when they find they can't do up the chin-strap because they've unknowingly put it on backwards. They're not as bright as us Brits.

I shouldn't mock really mate, the Mk7 comes with 'Fitting and care of...' instructions, so probably the same kind of info.

Doesn't say it isn't dishwasher safe, but it does make a hell of a racket in a tumble dryer. I think next time I'll pack it out with a pair of combats and some socks.
