Afternoon all. Restoring my series 3 air portable and noticed this latch on drivers side underside of the bonnet.
What is it supposed to hold/secure ? Any thoughts ?

Cheers

Hi Griff,

It, and it's mate further forwards, are stowage clamps to hold the jack handle and starting handle.

I've looked through my photo files, and unfortunately I don't have one of the handles stowed in place to share. Maybe someone will have on they can post up.

Regards,

I believe mine is bubble wrapped already, but if you're looking to get one note that the lightweight starting handle is longer than the civilian which won't fit.

Add some foam or other packing to reduce the noise from the handles

There should be a rubber pad, Part Number 346072, glued over the rivet heads on the inside of the clamps. I believe this was the original anti-rattle solution. There were rubber pads on mine before I stripped the clamps off the bonnet.
