Good evening sirs,
At the bottom of our reserves, this box…
I imagine a caliber 303 British, metal angles at the corners and light wood on the plans.
Can you help me ? : dating, destination, use, etc.
The objective being to be consistent with our Scammell Pioneer.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards.
Looloo

Re: Identification of an ammunition box
Hi Looloo,
The bottom markings, RG.9.3.56B, give the manufacturer and date information. And, if I am correct, it's (Royal Ordanance Factory) RADWAY GREEN 9th March 1956. But, I'm unsure what the B at the end denotes.
The box would contain 300 rounds of Mark 7 .303" Ball ammunition, in cotton bandoliers of 50 rounds each.
There may be more manufacturer markings stamped into the box, on the underside.
