Most replacement rear crossmembers, whether they are plain, with extension, or on a 1/4 chassis, have the top holes for the lifting eye 'missing', as they are covered over by the tub mounting tabs.

They are however present on the inner face of the rear crossmember.

The strengthening plate to stop the crossmember deforming when the lifting eyes are in use is present inside the crossmember. Well it is on mine anyway. If you poke around inside the holes should find the inner strenghtening plate to the outer side of the holes. All that you should need to do is drill the holes through the tabs as I believe they are there behind the tab. It certainly didn't feel like I was drilling through double thickness steel on the last two I drilled, but I wasn't paying much attention. Whether you chance drilling the hole in the right place through from the inner hole, or line up a lifting eye on the outside is up to you. Personally I'd line up a lifting eye to be sure.
