Hi,

So, another 2am finish!

You either have:

1. Insomnia
2. A heated workshop
3. Insomnia and heated workshop
4. Been bitten by the bug and having a great time, but are tired and frozen silly!

You are making great progress! Great that the chassis is in very, very reasonable condition, and that's a good result on the wiring/light repairs.

I'll take a pic of my door hinges, but it won't be till Saturday morning as that's the next time i'll be able to do it. That's unless Norman beats me to it again!

I'll look at the seat belts too and see how they are fitted and send pics.

thanks for all the photos, most helpful! My hinges look like barrels compared to them, (pix to follow).. does explain why the doors dont fit properly though!

As for the questions, insomnia - yes, workshop, yes (although it is a 100 mile round trip to home - but i work half way, so not as bad as it sounds) and its nearly heated, with a 2 post and 2x 4 post ramps (lucky to have a share in an auto garage, sadly not an MOT station), but its not my trade, I work in IT.
but its handy to store my projects in!

Think the target is gong to be pushed a week, as I've just found out I am out of the country Thurs/Fri/Sat, so I'm loosing 1/2 the week! although all the cable and various other bits have arrived this morning to sort me a loom and I'm also changing to a new ignition switch and fuse box..

Going over this eve, so we shall see how far i get - its the dash out and bulkhead located wiring tonight!

sorry for delays, but sadly have to work to pay for this new toy....

well having looked at the hinges on my truck, I now know why the doors don't even come close!

top ones got more barrel than a howitzer! bottoms look more like the ones you kindly photographed...

on the plus side replaced the fuse box on the column, and go the washer jets, hazards and stoplights working.

so not a bad night..

more pix to follow... the first 30 days have gone quickly, hopefully get the new rear chassis welded up and loom in next weekend, and then final checks for MOT (hopefully).

then its paint, as loads has worn off, and surface rust is prevailing.

Apologies for slow updates, work has got in the way over the last week or so....

More done last night, looks like I've a knackered smiths heater (fan) - it just gently smokes - think i now know why it was disconnected.. luckily i have a spare one i can substitute, and look at rebuilding the original at a later date. or, break the heater for parts and turn it into a mini gold mine, there is a chap who want £30 (inc p&p) for just the side panel, plus the door flap. crazy, what is happening to the prices...

Also arrived this week...
new galv. front bumper from Craddocks - doesn't quite look like mine though, are these repro / new ones a different design? they said "original" but.... I'm going to do a compare and contrast, if it is different, may look out / trade for a straight genuine old one. compete kit for Wiper motor / drive / wheel boxes, genuine Lucas and £65 all in, result!

Got the chassis weld up scheduled for fri-sat end of month, so hopefully all will come together.

I've got two outstanding issues,
1. seat belts.. I have a hole (s) L and R that looks large enough on the rear outer face of the lower rear tub, but can find no other suitable fixing points, pointers please. My truck is new enough - I think for inertia seat-belts but can see no evidence of the rail mounting points, so I'm guessing lap belts.
2. DVLA! - not too much of a bother but the wish an independent garage / engineers report to confirm vehicle details, engine type and engine number before they will re-issue of the V5, apparently it is because it has been "off radar" for 5 or 6 years, and imported and exported multiple times... and it has triggered their "ringer" alert. ho,hum.. but I'm glad they are becoming more aware, hopefully clamping down VED dodgers and hookey modified vehicles where the badge and bonnet are all that remain of the original vehicle. - rant over!
3. kinda... well of course MOT / Insurance / vehicle security once done.

- how do you guys secure your vehicles, mine has no door locks, steering lock, bonnet lock etc. its a pretty easy target, as it will spend 99% time parked up on roadsides unattended. (and probably within 100 yards of the same spot) in a side street of a busy seaside town or city center. I have other vehicles too, and sometimes they are left in one spot for days or even a week(s) around the town I live, as I work away from home alot.

so smiths heater rub down, paint up and ready to fit this weekend, hopefully you all have a good un too, and a bit of fiddling and fettling to boot!

now to add the missing re-enforcement spars from chassis to the new x member and fit rebuilt wiring loom, paint it up, and a final bolt down of rear tub lip with some plastic spacers to try and stop corrosion. That is job for Wednesday eve. though (as well as refit the front bumperesttes.)

I must say I am well impressed with the fit and build of both parts, all the bolt holes lined up perfectly.

I have also acquired from e-blag, a drivers side wing light box, do I can sort that metal mess too. think we are making some headway now...
