Well, I've spent a few bob getting tooled up for the rebuild.
As well as doing a couple wee bits.
Fixed - hopefully :
1. Zenith carb redressed including replacing the choke air ventilation jet that was missing. Hopefully part of the solution to getting her to run reliably.
2. Mechanical fuel pump redressed (still to decide on what colour to paint it) I had moved to an electric pump due to the issues I had with getting her to run but will hopefully get her back on the original pump. Unfortunately the AC Delco pump is a type E/F which has the crimped in valves so I didn't replace them. However sucking and blowing on the fuel pipes would indicate that the ones in place are not passing. You can't beat the taste of petrol
3. 6 way switch redressed as it was misbehaving again. Ignition wouldn't switch off sometimes. New knob purchased for it as it was cracking. Panel to mount it straightened, stripped and painted (etch and highbuild primers followed by satin black). Received a lovely rubber boot for the back of the 6 way from the very generous Rod so it should stay nice and cozy and dry once assembled - Thanks Rod.
4. IR switch "bezel?" cleaned up ready for painting (Thanks for that Norm including the decals to make her look right). I'm not going to reactivate the IR circuit but will probably repurpose the switch function for something else. Maybe an electric aerial for the radio
5. New exhaust fitted (intermediate and rear pipes) given a coat of extreme high temp silver to hopefully save the rot setting in where the welds were.
Purchased :
1. Sheet metal brake.
2. Welding clamps.
3. Teflon liner for the Mig (Unfortunately it doesn't fit. Back to the drawing board to find a solution to that one).
4. Pair of steering box covers from Les Cromie.
5. Pair of mudshields from Les Cromie.
6. 6 way rubber boot from the ever helpful Rod.
7. Half sheet each of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium for future repairs etc.
8. Nato hitch off of evilbay that I bid on but expected to go for more.
9. Correct Vent panel knobs (round type) evilbay part number 332327
10. Fuel pickup pipe gauze as mine is missing - evilbay part number 237585
11. Starting handle (never had one) evilbay part number 218508
12. Autosparks full harness (modified with relays for halogen headlights, altenator mod, extra relay fed wires to the front for ??? and an extra set of accessory wires at the dash) (Oh and a few extra inches on the wiper motor wiring as they are usually a bit short)
Destructed :
1. Mudshields and wing brackets kinda fell apart.
2. Civvy wiring harness stripped of most of the ancillary wiring so I can make sense of it all. Unfortunately the rear indicators now don't work. One snip too many I think
I think that's the bulk of my update for this leave (Work 2 away and 3 back).
I intend to do a better job of the updates with some nice pics next time I promise
