Welcome to the forum weetchus, good to see another Lightweight (or two) in far flung places. Certainly looks like you've got a job and a half on your hands. And I'm guessing you'll soon discover that it's the journey and not necessarily the destination that's the real source of the "enjoyment". Good luck with the build, I won't say I'll race you because you have most definitely got more of job on your hands than I have with my 85 KA 17.

I've removed the tub

I even got the front bumper off with some brute force.

Slowly but surely getting through the dismantling before moving onto 93KA28

Two fingernails to date on this dismantle. Expected I guess, as I am a complete novice.

Now managed to take the rear leaf springs and axle off.

What a hellish nightmare that was. Getting the shackle bolts out was the hardest task to date. I spent 2 days on one bolt! Eventually I ended up using a long, thinner bolt as a cold chisel to hammer the shackle bolts out with a large hammer.

It's a horrible rusty corpse of a chassis so I am cutting it to pieces and keeping any good bits for welding emergencies.

So we tried to start the 93KA28 for the first time in 3 years. (First time for me ever).
I prepped it days before with some oil squirted into the spark plug holes (technical term I'm sure). I even managed to hand turn the engine with a bar on the crank starter which was a positive sign.

With a new battery the starter motor kicked into life and the engine turned... but the fuel pump would not pull any fuel through annoyingly. Tried priming and everything. So I've taken it out and serviced it.

Some one handed filming, fuel pump tender cleaning outside before opening up and checking the diaphragm and gaskets. All good inside. Pristine actually.

Then I got some gasket material as the gasket connection to the engine body was damaged.

and made a gasket to fit.

If you aren't already, and speaking from experience of my strip down, take plenty of pictures for reference on the rebuild, and then take a whole load more.
We live a strip down and rebuild, especially those of us that have just finished(ish).

Thanks for the advice. I'm taking videos as I go... I find pausing the video at different angles really helps vs. pics which tend to show everything except what you need! Also, I've stripped the old rusted to death Lightweight down first as a practice run for the main job on 93KA28. Can't wait... just need to hoist the engine out of 44AJ20 to get it out of the way so I can move 93KA28 into place and start working.
