Or 3 battenburgs side by side
Couldn't resist even if I hate the stuff myself.

It wouldn't be allowed through the door, for that reason any unexpected parcel are left to soak for 24hrs, or destroyed by fire.
No, not ballistic pads.

I kept forgetting to post up a little clue to this one, so here goes.

It's a pouch, obviously, but, what does the pouch contain?

Hmm! That's interesting. The pouch looks home-made, or at least made for a limited lifespan. The clue is the piece of string, I have no doubt. You have two identical ones, apparently. Is it an SF survival kit?

RVD or Residual Vapour Detector, a piece of kit that sounded more sexy in training than it actually was in real life and all came in a easy to decontaminate canvas wallet with loads of nooks and crannies

We have a winner!
Well done Stuey, it is indeed a Residual Vapour Detector Kit.
A pic here of the contents in the pouch for those unfamiliar with the item.

The contents are the 'Tickets' used to capture any chemical vapour. Test solution bottles used to test for Mustard or Nerve Agents. An Aspirator, more commonly known as a puffer bottle, used to draw air samples through the ticket. An idiots guide.
