If you shop around in places like the gleebay, generators can be found at very reasonable prices. I paid £55.00 for one last summer just to get me down to W&P whilst the original was being rewound .jsbenson67 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2017 8:49 pmCheers guys,
The 2.25 petrol route has the potential to eat most of the £2000 especially if trying to put back to 24volts as stuff like alternators, starter motors etc all tend to be horrifically expensive. I would also imagine that most if not all 2.25 engines will need a good deal of cash throwing at them to get them any where near what they were when new. Most of the ones that i have seen on eBay are only fit to be used as boat anchors, and themselves are starting to ask stupid money.
I do still have my 110 TDCI station wagon as my daily driver. So the lightweight would be for weekends and fun. I'm not really a rivet counter so i'm not that bothered about it being as it left the army, not under the bonnet anyway. But externally and at first glance, internally i would like it to look as it would have. Steve Parkers have started marketing a conversion kit to fit 300TDIs into series Land Rovers. So maybe i could go along the path of how it would have evolved if they kept producing it. 300TDI, front disk brakes, wolf wheels, better suspension?
2.25 is the route to go down in my view unless you are going to use it daily or you have shares in a petrol company
