Re: New lightweight owner and member
Hi Sean,
If you are coming along to the War & Peace Show I'd best know what your tipple is?, it's my 60th while I'm down there.
Up to now,
Cider for Gordon and Dave, ( Norcoatamique ),
Bockors lager for Norman,
Grog for Shaun,
Guinness for Rob,
Pork and Ale pie for Steve, ( Would someone get that for me from the shop ).
A Leffe Blonde for Graham. ( The honourary custodian of tent pegs ).
Anyone else fancy a drink?, Neil?, what's yours?.
Regards, Norman

Re: New lightweight owner and member
I will be taking pics along the way, as I want to take it to the war and peace show and after the show i really want to get to work on it during the rest of the year.
The Landy isn't mint but I can work on that.
So far I've fitted electronic ignition, plugs, leads, dis cap and a new replica zenith carb to get it running as it was a non runner when I bought it, also replaced the master cylinder and replaced all the rear brake pipes from the brake failure valve and replace one slave cylinder and clean up the other three.
Last job I did today was remove the rear prop and replace the UJs, the front prop is shagged, the splines are really badly worn.
Hope you don't mind me sharing all this?
And my tiple is the flavoured cider and I look forward to meeting you.
Sean
Ps: I will be looking into getting the history and I will gratefull for any help.
And I'm on the isle of sheppey in Kent.

I don't know if the club B card search will throw anything up for a RN vehicle, so you may have to send away elsewhere, also you may run into problems as I think I'm right in saying that the navy re-used there reg numbers, however nothing is impossible and as Hibbo has pointed out Cam should be able to sort you out.

Put me down for a lager then mate. Stella, Wobbly, Fosters, Red Stripe, hell, any really, I am not known for my fussiness when it comes to downing the odd can or two.
Sounds like you've been busy Sean. Feel free to share away, we like to hear what people have been up to with their motors.Sean7r wrote: The Landy isn't mint but I can work on that.

I wouldn't worry about the lightweight not being mint, mine was tatty for the best part of twenty years before it was taken off the road for a rebuild.
I hope you manage to trace the history of yours. My B card only shows mine going to the Central Vehicle Depot in July 73 and on to a TA Engineer unit in June 74, nothing after that. It was released with a Perkins diesel engine fitted and painted 'Battleship Grey', would love to be able to find out more, it might have an interesting unknown history waiting to be discovered.

Hi Sean, I have replied to your PM.
RN Lightweighs are very rare compared to the Army and RAF lightweights, not sure how much I can help but we'll have a go.

No worries, many thanks for your help, are there any other RN lightweight landrover owners on this forum? Regards Sean

Re: New lightweight owner and member
I don't think so, I only know of two other RN owners from other sites, I'm sure there are more but Lightweight owners are a rare bunch and those that use Internet forums are rarer still.
