Berthas lightweight rebuild
Berthas lightweight rebuild
Hi all ive finally got the space to start messing with the lightweight in a freinds garage and there's a lot to do. I had john wright from jake Wright's to come and see it as he's only a couple of miles away and very helpful he will be as we actually got it turning over .chassis looks good but im going to give it a complete overhaul and hopefully put it back to canvas .The main issue is the upper vent panel needs replacing plus a hole in the bulkhead otherwise im hoping all goes well .Does anyone have a vent panel for sale?
i wish

Roof off windscreen off air vent panel off and disintegrated
so new one of those but bulkhead looks okish apart from a previous repair that rusted away but with the electics ive got voltage to the coil but none to the distributor so no spark still investigating however engine cranks really well .Next sunday is a tidy up hopefully get the rear tub off and do some more prodding about with the electrics

Re: Berthas lightweight rebuild
If it's a newly galvanised chassis, you'll need to apply mordant solution/ T-wash to it first or paint/primer won't stick properly. Belt and braces is to use etch primer before your choice of chassis black. Probably nothing too glossy.
Won't do any harm to waxoyl the inside (must do mine). Galv is only one line of defence after all.....
