2A battery/airbox tray

In the mists of time, some enterprising PO has relocated the battery on my 12V 2A, cutting off the pedestal supports close to the chassis and hanging the airbox on the wing. So now I'm aiming to return to the original arrangement and need a bit of help please...
First off, I'll need to recreate the pedestal, so can anyone help me with either a dimensioned drawing, or suggestions of where I might be able to purchase a kit of parts (four legs and the flat plate)
Then I'll be needing a battery tray with airbox mount. Is the lightweight fitment the same as a standard S2A tray? Does anyone have one for sale?
Any photos of what a correct 2A installation should look like would be much appreciated.

Good idea. I emailed Richards twice a while back but received no reply. Perhaps they might respond better to a call.
Regarding the detachable battery tray, on close inspection, I see that the airbox frame that's bolted to my wing is simply the business end of the original battery tray. I suspect my best bet might be to fabricate the missing parts myself, on the basis that I already have the most complex part. What I really need is some measurements, or some close-up photos against a tape measure - would anyone be in a position to oblige?

Hi Bob,

I rang Richards when I wanted a replacement rear cross member in plain steel, not coated, to see if they could supply one. They were really helpful, and even supplied all the braces for free even though I didn't need, or ask for them. It may be worth giving them a ring to see if they can supply the chassis' tray support you need.

I can't help you with the measurements I'm afraid, as all my motors are FFR's. Hopefully someone can measure up a tray for you.

Hi again Bob,

If you don't fancy fabricating your own, have a search for Part No 562928 or NRC3615, you will find a couple on ebay at a resonable price. One original complete take-off, and two galvanized pattern parts that you need to bolt your original air filter clamp to.

You will also nee the tray, P/No 624430. The clamp frame, P/No 577020. The J-Bolts. P/No 562953. Washers P/No 2876, or a suitable equivalent, and the Wing Nuts P/No 250431.

Thanks Neil, that's a very useful collection of part numbers to chew over. Thanks to Ebay and the remnants of original kit on the car, I think I'm now just about sorted with the tray and accessories. All except for the chassis platform, that is. Having twice emailed Richards to no avail, I tried calling them, only to be invited to email, which I did and have received no response - I'll pause a few days and call again. I bet if I was after a whole chassis, they'd reply soon enough, but the platform is rather trivial for them I guess.
Anyway, I'll get there in the end. I'm even toying with the idea of starting a project thread for my wagon as I gradually progress through undoing the various "upgrades" it's suffered over the years.

Still not quite there yet. Whilst starting to assemble the battery platform, I'm concerned whether there's sufficient headroom for my airbox. I see two types of battery tray, and I'm not sure if I have the right one.
There's this raised type that I've seen on earlier models (photos lifted from internet) ...

Now, I have the raised type, but when I measure it up with where I think the platform should be, it looks like there'll be minimal clearance between the top of the airbox and the underside of the bonnet. This all makes me wonder if I'm placing the platform at the right height. This is where I've got to so far, just the outboard legs welded in place as yet, waiting to be trimmed to the correct height ...

So, there are two things I need help with:
1) Should an early (Dec '68) 2A be fitted with the raised or flatter type battery tray as in the top two photos?
2) What height should the battery platform be above the chassis? It currently sits just over 5" above the chassis at the front outboard leg as in the last photo, I have guessed this should be trimmed to 5", but I'd be grateful if someone who has an original 2A chassis accessible, could measure theirs for me please.
