My '73 s3 half ton sadly doesn't have the correct military headlights, and eBay would like me to sell a kidney and a lung to have a pair - just curious if anyone has any complete units, parts / anything to get my started towards getting mine back to mil spec?

Not sure if this is what you meant, but some headlight rings have popped up on ebay, item number 134034571696
