Rear Load bed galvanised load protection strips

Post by diffwhine » Fri Feb 05, 2021 10:30 am

I'm after a pair of the protection strips that are riveted to the rear floor. I have 3 good ones, just need another 2. No rush for this, but if anybody has any that they want to part with which are in usable condition, please let me know.

I will also probably need some in the future but can not access my vehicle at the moment to know how many I will need. Does anybody know the part number, I have tried searching but failed to find it?

Thanks

Richard

Thanks Chipbury - you are correct. Blanchards list them at around £30, but I also note that this has come up previously on this forum (https://forum.militarylightweight.co.uk ... php?t=4753) before my time.
I might investigate getting some more done. Not exactly top of my list of priorities at the moment. I've got three good ones and one which looks like its spent the last 20 years in the North Sea (still intact though!

As far as I am aware the group buy never happened.

I bought a set of five brand new Wolf 90 ones which are zinc plated and are exactly the same dimensions as the lightweight. The only difference in them is two of the seven or eight rivet holes don’t line up so need to drill two holes in floor, didn’t bother me, and you’d never tell.

That's worth knowing - thanks. As I'm putting in a new floor anyway, rivet holes won't matter.
In future, if anybody picks me up on the number of rivets in a load strip on my 2A restoration, I really will lose the will to live. In fact I might have to beat them to death with their own eyebrows...

Thanks for the part number and the Wolf suggestion. Something else I probably need to add to accumulating rebuild part pile!

There was a guy on ebay last year doing sets for lightweights . I messaged him at the time and he did me two sets for the 101 projects as nobody else stocked them including Blanchards . I have messaged him on facebook today to see if he is still doing sets for lightweights so will post his response when he replies .

Are they not cut down 110 ones as they only have the proper formed end on one end? Whereas the Wolf 90 ones are formed both ends.
