They can get a little tight in the chassis. I gave mine a regular soaking in the weeks before it was time to remove it. I then used a scissor jack under the track rod as a support to stop it bending, and a bottle jack on top pushing up on the relay shaft to keep a constant pressure on the relay. The occasional smack on the top of the chassis with a large hammer would move it a little each time, so the jack was pumped up and the process repeated intil the relay popped free.

I used a lever bar and a shot hammer gentle pressure from the under side, then a tap from side to side. Made my arm ache.

I was thinking when I put the relay in the new chassis I could seal around the top with silicone or thick grease to stop the aperture from filling up. But my brain is telling me it’s a bad idea it could make it a b🤬tch to get out. What about a grease nipple?

Once out though it was all ok. I haven’t stripped it down but it turns all ok.

Well, good work, you got it out 'relatively easy' compared to some horror stories.
First, you shouldn't have to do it again hopefully if refurbed properly; and secondly would suggest shed loads of copper grease on refitting.
Cheers,
Bob

Good morning all,

Happy New Year to you. :!

Given that I cannot work for a long time on my LWT, I changed my avatar to the one more suited to my vehicle.
The corresponding stickers are placed on the bodywork; no photos available, sorry.

Regards.

Safe and Happy New Year to you All.

Well with the rather quiet Christmas break it seemed an ideal time to “isolate” with a lwt and so off came the tub to replace the tub frt cross member which is quite important given it provides one of the three seat belt anchor points and the ally here was turning to dust thanks to the steel seatbelt mounts. Mission accomplished thanks to Bomber who provided the x member sometime ago.

Once more Duralac arrives the three restored tub supports will go back on along with new top hats.

Hopefully there might be some shows this year....

Regards
Mac

Finally gotten around to cleaning up the rear axle. I plan to paint them, fit new bushes before they go on the chassis.

So the coldest day, so far, started to snow, just the right time to run the lightweight up, my son been using it as a security lock for his Triumph Speed Triple. Bike gone to his new flat, so.. Guess what?? It will not start, check fuel, there isn't any. Out on a jolly, round the fuel station, in the snow, then back home top up fuel, prime and starts almost immediately. What a great motor this is. Snow stops, and melts away in 5 minutes.
Went to try try the 101, but that's a different story. Fuel primed, and then leaking from several joints from tank to pump to carbs, plus in-tank pump has gone on strike. Believe it's the new fuel causing the problems.

At the weekend I changed the oils in the engine, transfer box, both diffs and bled the brakes before starting it up. As soon as the key contacted it started first time and ran really nice. Swapped the bolts on the thermostat housing for stainless ones and had a general check over the rest of the vehicle.
Thanks
