Real shame about Peterborough, its a show I personally enjoy doing, couldn't make last year so I can't comment on that but the year before we seemed to be tucked out of the way a little.

I don't agree with having to pay for the privilege of adding a display to the show. I would like to say that the organisers will come to regret this chance in policy, but it probably only means a shift in those who display as many will see it as a cheap way to camp over.

I do agree we should attempt to find another show to replace it.

Does the club pay for its pitch at other shows like W&PR? As I remember it was a day pass and a camping ticket when I stayed over on the club stand in 2017, but I wasn't in a show vehicle and have no experience of displaying. How does it usually work? The club contacts the event and agrees a pitch to display, and the club members pay to attend themselves but not for the vehicles?

Seems a bit like the accountants have been allowed to run riot and suggested that X thousand pounds can be generated just by charging a seemingly innocuous £10 per vehicle, seemingly oblivious to the fact that this may piss off the clubs to the extent where the show's overall appeal will suffer as clubs drift away over time. Poor forward planning!

The club make contact with each show (or are contacted sometimes) we let them know a pitch size and an estimate on numbers attending. If that show has its own booking system then members book in with the show. We as a club ask for a £10 donation for displaying on the pitch, this covers our PLI, if members want to enjoy the club curry on a Sat night this is usually about £2 or £3 depending on numbers.

I thought that for the effort put it in to the Peterborough stand it was not really that well received and the pitch felt very cramped. The show organisers should look after their exhibitors better as otherwise there wouldn’t be much to look at.
I tried a couple of shows local to me last year, one being the tank fest at the Norfolk tank museum. Although obviously a much much smaller show, the vehicle was very well received and generated lots of interest. The organisers were much friendlier and grateful as well. There is a group called Callsign Alpha which had a stand there, looked really good and were really nice guys.
On thinking about it it’s probably because it was a military show so therefore the public obviously have an interest in military stuff before they attend.
