Hiya Norm,

Mine was fitted to an 'L' shaped bracket and bolted onto a tab on the inside rear of the rear crossmember so that it sat direcrtly behind the NATO hook.

You should be able to just see it in the pic.

Nice one Neil,

Exactly the same place as on "Sarge" :D .

For some reason I was looking for it nearer the rear axle.

My intention is for wiring the convoy light to the main headlights for the white painted diff pan to show bright.

I was following my friends Canadian Chevvy radio truck last autumn as it was getting dark, his convoy light certainly worked the trick, far better than his rear lights.

When everything is connected and working I'll try it out.

Thanks for the piccie.

Regards, Norman.

Im under the impression you cannot show a white light to the rear of the vehicle Norm, poss a convoy light might not be so bad but if a bobby wanted to be picky its technically an offence.
Other lights - It is an offence to show a red light to the front of a vehicle (including a reflector) and a white light to the rear unless reversing. Once again these offences are dealt with by means of a £30 Fixed Penalty Notice. It does not matter if the lights are mounted inside or outside the vehicle, just that the light can be seen from the outside. This would also include neon lights fitted under or on the side of a vehicle and red LED windscreen washer jets. Green lights can only be fitted on Medical Practitioners vehicles.

Hi Rob,

The position of the convoy light is located so the light shines downwards and forward from where it is fitted, not illuminating to the rear of the vehicle.

It is something I am thinking about, after seeing Jonny's Chevvy that night made me think that it was something to save you from someone running up your back end, happens quite a lot with the little J33ps.

How's the changeover going on?, all well I hope.

Conversion is going ok just need to sort a clutch out. Been spending my time re-wiring the poor thing, the po had removed the ir and auxiliary relays and left live wires behind the dash :?

Watcha Rob,

The same genius must have worked on my earlier FFR - the kind gentleman treated me to an arc burn that went through my finger (just before Stoneleigh)
It can only be one man as the skill involved in the bodging is beyond the limits of education.

Gordon probably won't agree with this but it would be good to compile a list of bodging po's so we could compile a list of the aliases he is using :D

I like 'po', sounds like sh*te.

Hi to all,

I've discovered that WWII vehicles had their convoy lights fitted further in than where it is located on Lightweights, much nearer the rear axles.

Not going to bother wiring mine in with the headlamps, but keep it as standard, as one of the guys at work said "Would look like a Chav car".
