i purchased 48 HG 61 in the early part of 2009 , it was in a fairly poor state as it had been left in a garden of the previous owner , as he had used it offroad
and after his death it sat on the driveway for 3 years, i spotted it after working in the area and one day went and knocked on the door and asked if it was sale, the lady of the house was very sad to see it go, but would see it sold, as long as i put it back to its former glory, and would forward pictures of such,
after a bit of research i found out it had served most of its life with the green howards, who,s landrovers the HAC took on 6 to make into ceromonial ones for the likes of the lords mayors show and trooping the colour etc,
the engine hadent run for those 3 years but after fitting a new battery and a basic service i had it running in 2 hours it apparently had a full chrome bumper which was removed by the previous owner to protect it, but the wife didnt know where it was stored, so hence i had to get a replacement bumper off a breaker, but when funds allow ill get a new replacement and send it to a chroming company, the tuamm box also wasnt fitted but there was a blanked of hole with a rubber gromit in it and a pop rivet in the locating pin hole, so as i had one in the shed on it went, the sign board on the front was a few evenings work, using stick on letters and a craft knife,we have also recovered all the seats in white faux leather as there was only 2 remaining and couldent clean them to any standard ,was a fun evening stitching the spare wheel cover by hand,
so this will be its first year out and about on the show circuits
and we hope to meet up with a few of you around the country
