Reproofing Tilts

Post by 57Kb17 » Mon Nov 26, 2018 3:22 pm

Hi, and apologies if this question has been asked before, I am looking to reproof the tilt it's 4 years old and I am wondering what is the best option and quantity of liquid needed. My search has come up with 3 products.
1. Everbuild 408 spirit based brick sealer.
2. Fabsil Gold.
3. Paints r Us Military Vehicle Canvas Paint – Camouflage / Military Green.
Any suggestions or experience with any of the above will be most helpful. All the best Adrian.

I'm very surprised your contemplating reproofing a 4 year old tilt, these things if good quality aftermarket such as those by Undercover Covers last for years without need of reproofing, just as the originals did.
I've heard people talk about Fabsil but know nothing about it, as for other, leave well alone is my advice. Rob will no doubt have some input having had a less than satisfactory experience with paint.
The only sure one I knew of was the pukka military canvas paint from way back in the 80's which is now unobtainable.

I agree with Bob. I also think brick sealer should never be an option. Jim

Hi Bob, JML thanks for your replies, the tilt is a Undercover Tilt, the reason for thinking about reproofing, was that I found some
green algae on a few seams and thought that it might need some reproofing. Regards Adrian.

Adrian,
Just give it some basic maintenance with a gentle clean in the seams with some mild warm water/Fairy liquid mix and a nail brush then a light power wash off.
If your vehicle is outside all the time, the main thing to watch out for is bird s*#t, especially from pigeons, crows and terns as that will get into it if left.

all as above but avoid pressure washers....just rinse soap of with a hose spray or you will have unsightly streaks in the fabric for evermore.
