Rear crossmember outer brace dimensions

Post by Wildefalcon » Sat Feb 24, 2018 7:26 pm

I'm looking for a favour, can anyone put a measure on the outer rear braces between the rear crossmember and the chassis rails?

How wide and how deep are they?

How far from the intersection do they start along the chassis rail, and the crossmember?

I'm nearly finished the rail repairs and will be moving on to the crossmembers next, and will start at the back and work forward.

Thank you,

W.

As you can see, all measured from the outside edges of a new chassis. The brace is 51mm in width and 18mm in depth. 8-)

Progress!

Got two of these in today. Hopefully more this weekend...............

Interesting that the richards chasssis website photo only shows 1 of these on each side, I chose to ignore that, and put two on.

Thanks again.

It's looking good anyway - some nice welding and it will be all the stronger for the double bracing.

Thanks Fred, for the kind words.

I'm debating with myself what I should do to preserve the chassis, once done. Hot zinc spray or hot dip galv is the debate.

I need to start phoning galv companies, I think. To see who would take on a chassis with internal paint.

Great work, it's the little things that make a big difference. It surprising how many 'new' chassis don't have all the supports.
