What I do remember from the period are the tailor(esses) making up pen holder arm brassards and penpockets for HD pullovers - all the rage at one time. You may recall I was a Sapper at the time with one on my HD pully sleeve and was on a course when a senior(ish) Guards officer drawled, "I say, what's that on your arm?" "A pen pocket!", I replied. "Oh, how terribly artisan"!!

But some tailors went as far as DPM waistcoats and bow ties to match combat suits!
