Re: 31FK20
Hi Ade, Welcome to the forum, it looks like your LWT spent most of its life with the Royal Corps of Transport (RCT) in the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR). The RCT has now been amalgamated into the Royal Logistic Corps (where you probable got the B card from). Some of the more learned members of th...

Re: Series IIA Chassis up rebuild
You're really making some great progress...now this advice may well be too little too late. Like you I wanted to get the gearbox mounted, which seemed like a good idea at the time, that was until I tried to fit the engine! I painted the air blue trying not to damage the fresh paint work on the engin...

Re: 85KA17 - due south
Great progress gunner59 and HNY. Can I offer some advice based on hard earned experience of restoring my own LWT. It's important to remember that the tub is the only major piece of bodywork that has no adjustment when bolted to the chassis. As the tub incorporates the b-posts if you want to get dece...

Re: Series IIA Chassis up rebuild
looks really smart...like you I fitted the bumper to the chassis, then fitted the over riders. My top tip would be to fit the over riders to the bumper first, as it's a royal faff trying to get an interference spanner past the reinforcement plates at the back of the bumper whilst it's bolted to the ...

Re: Peterborough 4x4 Spares Day
Thanks Steve,
I'm also looking for Defender parts for my 127 Rapier, as you say could be weather dependant!

Peterborough 4x4 Spares Day
I can't make Newbury 4x4 Spares Day in April, so I'm considering going to Peterborough this weekend. I can see from the advert in LRM that it's quite a bit smaller than Newbury. It's a 4hr round trip to Peterborough so I'm keen to hear about members experiences before I commit. Welcome your thoughts...

Re: Series IIA Chassis up rebuild
Hi Landylees, really enjoying the rebuild, you're doing a great job. Next time you need to fit the dampers, there is a relatively inexpensive tool you can buy that looks like a notched out socket. I used sash clamp (as I didn't have a big enough g-clamp) to compress the rubber bushes/washer, it's st...

Re: Series IIA Chassis up rebuild
Keep up the good work, couldn't help notice the refurbished throttle linkage parts. I fitted them after I'd installed the bulkhead onto the chassis which was a mistake as when you come to refit them the engine is in the way. My advice is fit them to the bulkhead before you fit it to the chassis, it ...

Re: Original oil bath air filter system
Hi Jim, there's one on eBay for £120 which seems very pricey. If you don't find one there's always the Newbury 4x4 Spares Day in the Autumn, you're bound to find one there.
