I ignore all that ritual, I adjust the timing for best smooth running not necessarily the max power. Bear in mind that modern fuel is rather different from the fuel used when the vehicle was manufactured so precise setting can be academic.

Mark I thought there was a carb rebuild company in the vicinity of Newton Abbot. I couldn't find them but I did stumble on this which is your area.

Similarly my wife was born in Llanelli & my sister was born in Sennybridge where my parents lived during WW2. Although this is denied by AI & Wikipedia, the camp nearby was used to station US Troops.

Indeed a few years ago the front diff in the Wolf failed & had to be replaced at a cost of nearly £800. There was a warning about diff care in the MOD maintenance Kit! the typical cost for this replacement was quoted at nearly double this. So lots of good reasons to have moved to Wales 10 years ...

My local garage who have about 6 mechanics & work on all sorts of vehicles charge £50 per hour irrespective of vehicle type, then of course there is VAT on that.

Jim the ammeter in the shunt box is only for the radio batteries if fitted & besides it only shows charge going in not discharge. It is important to establish whether you have a continuous leakage of current when the vehicle is unattended. Do you have a battery isolating switch in the negative l...
